Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has attempted a unique experiment using the fourth stage of the PSLV-C56 rocket, bringing the upper stage down to a lower orbit after successfully launching seven Singaporean satellites on Sunday. After placing the Singaporean satellites in their intended orbit at an altitude of about 536 km, the fourth stage of the PSLV rocket was placed in a lower orbit to ensure its reduced orbital life at an altitude of about 300 km.

During a dedicated commercial mission, the ISRO scientists decided to perform a unique scientific experiment in which the fourth stage of the rocket would be lowered into a 300 kilometre orbit after placing customer satellites.

The ISRO successfully launched its PSLV-C56 rocket carrying seven Singaporean satellites from Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota on Sunday. The satellites have been placed into their intended orbits.

While the mission is a follow-up to the PSLV-C55 TeLEOS-2 mission launched in April this year, scientists in Sundays mission will place the fourth stage of the PSLV rocket in a lower orbit.
