The Danbury Farmers Market opens for the season tomorrow, and this year it will be greatly expanding with help from an anonymous benefactor who kicked in $45,000. The anonymous grant will help the market lower the cost for seniors, veterans, women, children and SNAP recipients so they can more easily purchase fresh food at the market. The grant from the unidentified benefactor, was delivered by Fairfield County’s Community Foundation. The money will support the Farmers’ Market mission to expand access to healthy food options. The unnamed donor is actually a longtime supporter of the Farmers Market, and has contributed more than $399,000 to support the program over the past 12 years.
