NEW DELHI: Former BARC India CEO Partho Dasgupta has been admitted to JJ Hospital after his sugar level fell extremely low. He is in the ICU now.
The development comes after the Mumbai police released over 500 pages of WhatsApp messages purportedly between Dasgupta and Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami, in which they allegedly discussed confidential TRP data and intervention from political leadership in industry matters.
Dasgupta has been in judicial custody after he was denied bail in the TRP manipulation case. Police has claimed the former BARC chief was the mastermind behind the TRP scam. He has been charged for conniving with Goswami in manipulating viewership ratings for wrongful gains.

“Bigger than a normal strike.”
That is what Republic TV Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami told Partho Dasgupta, the former Chief Executive Officer of the Broadcast Audience Research Council , which measures television ratings, in a purported WhatsApp chat on February 23, 2019.
Three days later, on February 26, 2019, the Indian Air Force carried out a strike targeting a Jaish-e-Mohammad training camp in the Pakistani town of Balakot. The attack was billed as India’s response to an attack on February 14, 2019, in Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir, in which 40 Central Reserve Police Force personnel were killed after an explosive-laden car driven by a suicide bomber rammed into their bus.

NEW DELHI: It has already been three months since the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) announced a 12-week suspension of TRP numbers for TV news channels, in the wake of the alleged TRP scam unearthed by the Mumbai police. However, the council did not release weekly data this Thursday as well.
A BARC India spokesperson told Indiantelevision.com that the tech committee’s internal review is still ongoing and the timeline for reinstating TV news ratings will be intimated to all stakeholders and media “at the appropriate time.”
