Fresh from her presentation at the Regional Seminar of the Decolonization Committee held mid-May in Venezuela, and later visits to Caribbean nations, ahead of the main C24 meeting in New York in June,
The United Kingdom Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme (AFPS) recently visited the Falkland Islands and British Forces South Atlantic Islands, BFSAI at Mount Pleasant Complex. The aim of the AFPS is to allow Members from both Houses of Parliament the opportunity to visit various military locations, and provides education about service life including some hands on time with service persons.
With the purpose of building on the conversations and strengthening the relationship between the Falkland Islands and Wales, a multi-party delegation of four members from the Sennedd Cymru (Welsh Parliament) visited the Islands for seven days, James Evans MS, Laura Anne Jones MS, Alun Davies MS, and Jack Sargent MS, accompanied by the Falklands Government Representative in London, Richard Hyslop.
A delegation from Sierra Leone headed by Mrs. Princess Dugba, Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources together with Ms Harriet Mathews, Director General Africa and the Americas at the Foreign and Development Office are currently in the Falkland Islands as part of a program to share fisheries, environment and conservation policies experiences.
Members of the Falkland Islands Legislative Assembly shared a Christmas best wishes message in the last session of 2023. Be it not for defense, which remains a UK responsibility, the eight elected members of the Assembly are in fact the internal government of the Falklands.
