SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County Sheriffs Office responds to calls throughout the county. The following are calls that only pertain to the South and West Shore, including Meyers, South Lake Tahoe, Meeks Bay, Tahoma, and the Echo Summit area.

CAMAS — Consultants hired by the city of Camas will soon complete the first phase of a two-phase plan designed to address pollution sources and improve water quality in Camas’ Lacamas, Round and Fallen Leaf lakes, but critical data collection will have to wait until the state approves the city’s plans for gathering and assessing data for the project.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The evacuation warning has been rescinded for all homes accessed from Pioneer Trail between Al Tahoe Blvd and Elks Club Drive, Highway 89 between Emerald bay and the City of South Lake Tahoe, and Fallen Leaf Road Between Highway 89 and Tahoe Mountain Road.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - There is now a large change to the evacuation orders for the Caldor Fire. This is the time to take action immediately if in the Lake Tahoe Basin.

Five thousand more people were evacuated Sunday afternoon after the Caldor Fire made a run for the ridges to the east. It has burned 168,387 acres and containment dropped to 13 percent due to the increase in fires size at the east/northeast end.

CAMAS — Threats of a lawsuit have put a damper on the Lacamas Creek Watershed Committee, an ad hoc group created in 2020 to investigate and advise the city of Camas on water quality topics related to the Lacamas Creek Watershed and the city’s Lacamas, Round and Fallen Leaf lakes.

As a heat wave continues in Clark County, forecasters warn real relief from sweltering temperatures likely won’t come until Monday.

As temperatures rise, a landscape that continues to dry, and a lake level that is dropping daily, conditions are unfortunately becoming ripe for fire. In order to better protect the Lake Tahoe Basin, restrictions on open flames have expanded to more areas.
