One man died early Monday morning in a one-vehicle crash west of Leola, according to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety. The single vehicle crash happened around 3 a.m. Monday on Highway 10, mile marker 245, according to Tony Mangan, spokesperson for the South Dakota Highway Patrol. Twenty additional South Dakotans with COVID-19 died, the South Dakota Department of Health reported Monday, bringing the total number of deaths to 1,381. The department reported 347 new infections, which brought the seven-day average to 531. The new infections were from 3,206 total new tests.
