YMCA facing staffing needs for upcoming summer camps
The Greater Wichita YMCA is needing to find staff members for summer camps in Wichita, Viola and Andover.
The YMCA’s Child Care and Camp Branch Director, Andrea Eliot, said there are job openings for staff at seven program sites that should be filled before Memorial Day. The camps begin June 1st, and the agency is reporting an overwhelming response from parents. Eliot said the Y has not had the usual number of applicants for staff positions, and it may have to limit capacity if the positions can’t be filled.
The YMCA is offering a potential bonus at the end of the 2021 camp season to attract more applicants. The summer camp staff can make anywhere from $10 to $12 per hour, depending on their level of experience. The bonus would represent one week of pay.
