Police say a fourth member of the group called emergency services at around 5:30 p.m. to report the disappearance of his three companions in the Chic-Chocs nature reserve.
Two men were caught in an avalanche east of the Mount Engadine Lodge on Tower Peak in Kananaskis on Sunday. One was able to dig himself out but the other was buried.
“Three men were sledding in the area of the bowl when one got stuck,” said police. “As they were about to extract the snowmobile, an avalanche swept all three men away.”
Avalanche Canada says two people were climbing the Lone Ranger Ice Climb in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park on Saturday when a wind slab avalanche came down the mountain.
