From time to time to get some perspective. have you had a conversation with joe biden since hes become president of the united states? >> yeah, there was a conversation that was reported in march so im not giving away anything that was a quiet, off the record conversation, where the president spent two hours with six or seven historians at a long table in the east room, not asking for advice. the reports of this have been largely not right. they sort of have it that historians were urging him to...

Difficult times with the first black president, getting through the most massive health care change, you know, really since f.d.r. was in or l.b.j., you know, she has been the most effective speaker. i think it is a really strong choice for you. remember the days that we argued about policy and it was so normal. wasnt that fun. do you remember? policy. >> i love the fact that you were so wrong. >> it was so wrong. it was so wrong. tiffany cross, remember how raw michael steele was on everything....

Admired predecessors and he talked to these historians about how he could being like fdr. they even talked about in this article bidens new deal. how far we have come. and they talk about how consequential his presidency was. this was in march. this was when biden was trying to say the adults are back in the room. trump gone. im here to save the day. how far we have come since march of last year to now when i think americans broadly can recognize it has been crisis after crisis after crisis joey...

Unfortunately georgian, lets take a look. >> the problem is that joe biden has not a good agenda. you know, when he came in, people were talking as though he would be the next fdr or l.bj but he didnt have fdr or lbj majorities. now whats the most common met for used? its jimmy cart earth. jimmy carter is a synonym for haplessness with inflation. i think afghanistan was particularly brutal because it is not a right or left thing. i think a lot of people just have the impression that the job is t...

Communities behind. and now is the time not to make the same mistakes that were made by fdr and the new deal. the new deal was great. it gave us social security. we responded to the moment but we left people of color behind. as a matter of fact, we redlined black communities that still havent recovered in terms of the issue of wealth inequality. so, in order to heal as a country -- yep, go ahead. >> i was just going to say, i hear you on all that. but i do want to push back, and just ask you abo...

Benjamin: explained that more. how would you make the comparison? >> president biden came in and people were haley and as the next fdr, a transformational president. now they are talking about jimmy carter, after watergate, after nixon, after forward, everyone thought it would be a new day. it was a disaster. iranians took hostages, we had inflation. the soviets invaded afghanistan. all sorts of disasters. jimmy carter to most americans when you use this word, his name, it is a synonym for polit...

North carolina, texas for those two new seats. but the courts still hear challenges for racial gerrymandering. gerrymandering. and then democrats have played a ferry weak hand very well. they picked up seats in oregon, they picked up seats in illinois, and so i dont believe that the republicans are going to get an advantage out of redistricting which is exactly the opposite of what people thought when this process began. now lets look at history because you mentioned that with your slide. in the...

Shot down this build back better bill and its time now for the democrats to go back to the drawing board as opposed to doubling down on this f.d.r.-style socialist spending plan. if joe biden listens to representative jayapal and insist on going with this, the democrats will be annihilated in the mid-terms in 2022 leaving joe biden 100% a lame duck. >> jackie: kelly jean, that would be a huge problem for them. some are already bracing for the fact that that will be a wave of change sweeping thro...

The most massive healthcare change, you know, really since fdr was in or lbj. she had one of the most, she has really been the most effective speaker. i dont know if you can argue that, whether you are politically on her side or not. thats not even arguable. thats a really strong choice for you. remember the days we used to argue about policy, it was so normal. wasnt it fun? remember? the policy. >> i love the fact that you were so wrong. >> i wasnt so wrong, it was so wrong. i loved it, though....

Build back better, fdr, the new deal, lbj. were comparing apples with oranges here, and its so frustrating. the political moments that brought about the biggest congressional legislating changes that this country has known in terms of the new deal and the great society are different from what we have today. so what we need to do is look at build back better, look at joe bidens moment and understand this political moment of unprecedented, hyperpartisanship and take stock of that and not compare i...
