Photo: SFMOMA It’s the kind of major gift that can help reshape a museum’s collection. The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art announced on March 11 that it had received a gift of 31 works, including paintings, sculptures and drawings, by 20 African American artists from the Pamela J. Joyner and Alfred J. Giuffrida Collection. The collection has been celebrated in books and exhibitions as one of the most significant holdings of intergenerational abstract art of the African Diaspora.
