OAAN, ICL Partner on Audience Measurement for Out-of-home Sub-Sector

Stories by Raheem Akingbolu As part of measures to enable advertisers solve the challenges associated with offline measurement, the Outdoor Advertising Association of Nigeria (OAAN) and Interaction Channel Limited (ICL), an advertising technology company, have embarked on a strategic collaboration to provide a currency of measurement for the OOH sub-sector in Nigeria, using the innovative ‘Moving Audiences’ platform. Announcing the partnership in Lagos recently, the two parties disclosed that they will leverage best-in-class global technology, data and tools to drive strategy, planning and buying of Out-of-Home advertising for advertisers and brands. The Moving Audiences platform comes with devices that analyse people’s outdoor patterns across the country without revealing their personal deatils, combining data with detailed mapping of every outdoor site, including places such as rail stations, shopping malls, airports, roadside, bus stops etc.

Advertisers Seek Engagement Over Proposed Fine on Foreign Advertorials

By Emmanuel Addeh Heads of Advertising Sectoral Groups (HASG), an umbrella body comprising advertising, media, marketing activation and out-of-home media agencies as well as broadcasting company groups, yesterday called for more consultations on the planned imposition of an N100,000 fine on adverts played on foreign media channels. The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, had stated that there would henceforth be a fine for advertisements broadcast on foreign-owned channels and production of content abroad by advertisers, insisting that brands that run adverts during foreign matches must compulsorily advertise during Nigerian premiership games. He further stated that brands that produce their advertising materials abroad will pay a fine of N100, 000 each time such adverts are run, adding that advertising materials promoting Nigerian brands must be directed and authored by Nigerians inside the country.

By Raheem Akingbolu The Outdoor Advertising Association of Nigeria (OAAN) has hosted the maiden edition of “Night of the Legends” an event put together in honour of exemplary icons in the outdoor advertising industry. At the event which was held in Lagos, three former presidents of the association, Chief Foluso Babu Akinbobola, Chief JAS Kolawole Oyekan and Pa Simeon Olaghere were honoured. The event lived up to its billing as it attracted dignitaries from the advertising industry and beyond. Among the dignitaries at the occasion was the doyen of advertising and chairman of Troyka Holdings, Biodun Shobanjo; Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON) Registrar, Lekan Fadolapo; Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA), Managing Director, Prince Adedamola Docemo; Outdoor Advertising Association of Nigeria (OAAN) President, Emmanuel Ajufo; Media Independent Practitioners of Nigeria (MIPAN) President, Femi Adelusi and many others.
