With growing enrollment in mind, the Festus Board of Education recently voted to promote Tammy VanEtten to a newly created additional assistant principal position at Festus High School.

Festus High School officials rescheduled a tribute to Douglass Cooperative High School, a school for Black students during segregation, before and during the Tiger boys basketball game Feb. 21 against St. Clair. The originally scheduled Douglass Night in January was cancelled due to inclement weather.

The inaugural recipient of the newly created Festus R-6 School District Distinguished Service Award goes to Bob Hollmann, who served as a teacher, coach and administrator during his time in the district from 1966 to 2000.
