Despite repeated claims by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government that Boko Haram terrorists have been degraded and confined to the North-east alone, recent revelations by some Nigerian state governors give cause for worry.
The immediate past Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, had said that the
Boko Haram terrorist group had since been defeated but the Nigerian military is now fighting an international criminal gang known as Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP).
She added that her husband, Malam Kabiru Abdulrazak, who is a manager with Amsad Printing Press lives in a rented house in the area.
“We were told they came for one Alhaji Usman’s residence and they have arrested about 10 people in that residence. But unfortunately, they included three people who are residents of different houses within the area including my husband. We just want to know the whereabouts of our family members because their lines have been switched off since,” she narrated.
Another family member, Malam Abdulrazak Shamsuddeen Abubakar, said his uncle, Hassan Muhammad Noujein, who is an epileptic patient, was mistakenly arrested.

Troops of the 3rd Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Kano have raided Filin Lazio in Hotoro quarters of Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State and arrested 13 suspected members of Boko Haram.
The arrest came just as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Financial Derivatives Company Limited, Mr. Bismarck Rewane, has estimated that 400 Nigerians were killed in April by suspected Boko Haram insurgents, bandits, herdsmen and other non-state actors.
A source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told journalists yesterday that the military operation in Kano was carried out while the Muslim faithful were breaking their Ramadan fast.

The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, stated yesterday that the assailants stormed the home of Sgt. Christopher Madaki (rtd.), ascribe to a ward head at Golkofa, Jema’a Local Council, and shot him, as well as his wife and his son’s wife, identified as Mary.
According to Aruwan, the three victims were later confirmed dead, while the monarch’s son, Clement, survived but with injuries inflicted on him by the assailants.
Hotoro was previously an epicentre for insurgents’ activities in the state, before the terrorists were flushed out by concerted efforts of security forces and residents.
Members of Boko Haram sleeper cells in the area typically attacked security men and churchgoers in drive-by attacks between 2011 and 2013, when they were largely decimated.
The weekend raid, according to a resident of the area, Malam Muhammed Amadi was conducted without drawing much attention.
He explained that the army arrived at the suspect’s residence around 9:15 pm where they surrounded the residence and whisked away some members of the household.
He added that those arrested didn’t resist the arrest and as such not a single gun was fired during the raid.
