If you were planning to boogie down to the Church of 8 Wheels this weekend, don’t lace up those skates just yet.

The restaurant posted a sign to its store and its website saying it’s undergoing additional permit processes. It has opted to not display its logo and the name “Hinoya,” papering over parts of the sign until it’s officially approved to conduct business under that name at 3347 Fillmore St. The restaurant plans to remain open for business on Fridays, Saturdays and Sunday as a logo-less storefront with a sign that says “Curry SF.”

One of the most popular Japanese curry chains in Tokyo is making its way to San Francisco. Barry Louie and Thomas Uehara, who are both from Northern California but have spent the past 25 years living in Japan, will open Hinoya Curry this week at 3347 Fillmore St. in the Marina District, according to Eater.
Hinoya Curry is a popular chain with more than 60 locations mostly in the Tokyo area Louie and Uehara believe it to be the first major Japanese curry brand to open a restaurant in the Bay Area. They were inspired to open a location here after observing how popular curry was in Japan, and saw the potential for the dish to take off in the US.
