With entries for the May 14 primary closing at 5 p.m. Friday, only one county commissioner and North Platte City Council race apiece currently will require voters to eliminate candidates.

Joe Hewgley, Lincoln Countys District 1 commissioner since 1985, was chosen to follow Jerry Woodruff as 2024 County Board chairman. District 3 Commissioner Micaela Wuehler will be vice chairwoman.

Enrollment for North Platte Public Schools is slowly, but surely, seeing an increase, Director of Finance Stuart Simpson told the NPPS Board of Education.
