The government has announced a provisional allocation of €3.991m to the FAI under the Large Scale Sport Infrastructure Fund (LSSIF) for the development of Finn Harps stadium in Donegal.
The Finn Harps project has received funding previously and it is hoped that today’s announcement will allow the project to advance to construction stage.
The actual payment of the grant will be contingent on compliance with all of the other terms and conditions of the LSSIF including assurances that the balance of the construction costs can be secured.
Commenting on the announcement, Minister for Sport Catherine Martin said: This is excellent news for the FAI, Finn Harps Football Club and the football community in Donegal. The government is committed to investing in our sport infrastructure and we have ambitious plans to enhance investment in the LSSIF and the Sports Capital and Equipment Programme in the years ahead.

The Donegal Road Safety Working Group and Finn Harps FC have once again teamed up to assist with the promotion of road safety with the Primary School Road Safety Art Competition, which this year will be online.
The Road Safety Art competition invites young artists from Donegal’s Primary Schools, to create a piece of visual art that will raise awareness of how to stay safe on the roads. To enter as an individual, just get creative by making an original piece of art and uploading a photo of it online. The artwork will then be entered into the competition and reviewed by the judges. The winning artwork will be displayed at Finn Park for the coming season.
