Epidemiologist and paediatrician Professor Fiona Russel noted this during the first of a series of virtual panel discussions regarding COVID-19, the vaccine, the COVID test and questions related to the pandemic and prevention efforts – hosted by Fiji National University’s (FNU), College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences (CMNHS).

It’s another cool night here in the Capital City of Suva. Come to think of it, it’s the norm now to be seeing a quiet and empty city. Special mention for our police officers on checkpoint duties tonight… I notice they are in warm gear as the temperature hovers around 25 degrees Celsius.
Anyway, tonight the permanent secretary for Health and Medical Services Dr James Fong announced 39 new cases of COVID-19 since yesterday’s update. Thirty-two of the new cases are linked to the following existing clusters: Nawaka, Nadi – 6; CWMH – 11; Nasinu Police Barracks – 5; FICAC Warehouse- 3; Navy – 2; Waila – 2; IMT – 1; Naitasiri – 1; and Caubati – 1.
