On Tuesday, the San Diego City Council will consider a switch in ambulance service to Falck from American Medical Response (and, before that, Rural/Metro, which AMR bought in 2015) after a history of disappointing results, especially in diverse communities south of state Route 94. After evaluating their proposals, Fire-Rescue Chief Colin Stowell weighed in to say he believed that Falck would sharply improve equipment and technology, and that its plan would give the city new tools to improve emergency response times. It should get the chance.
