Kempsville's Jaden Flores and Cox's Colin Bridges win state titles at the Class 5 state wrestling tournament in Virginia Beach Saturday.

State wrestling tournaments begin Saturday and run through Monday at the Virginia Beach Sports Center and Salem Civic Center.

After being hindered by winter storms, the Virginia High School League state team and individual championships begin Saturday at Kellam High School in Virginia Beach.

York and First Colonial both came away with a pair of wins after Friday's region swimming and diving tournaments.

Region wrestling tournaments take place over the next two weeks, but all of them, particularly the Class 4 Region A tournament, are coping with a significantly reduced number of teams.

Paced by Stanford swimmer-to-be Samantha Tadder, the First Colonial girls hope to repeat as state Class 5 champions. Some meets are being held virtually because of COVID concerns.
