Nokia, Qualcomm, UScellular Hit Extended-range 5G World Record Over mmWave

Nokia, Qualcomm, UScellular Hit Extended-range 5G World Record Over mmWave Nokia, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. and UScellular today announced that they have achieved a world record extended range over mmWave of more than 10km utilizing its 5G extended-range millimeter Wave (mmWave) solution on a commercial network. This milestone paves the way to bring extended range 5G service with massive capacity and low latency to even more regions across the U.S., including rural areas. The field trial, which utilized Nokia’s AirScale Baseband and mmWave Radios in the 28 GHz (n261) band, was conducted on UScellular’s commercial network in Grand Island, Nebraska. The companies jointly tested multiple locations with different scenarios, measuring distance, throughput and latency.

Ericsson, Qualcomm extend FWA mmWave to 7 km

Ericsson, Qualcomm extend FWA mmWave to 7 km 07 MAY 2021 Qualcomm, Ericsson, UScellular and Inseego said they have extended 5G fixed wireless coverage range to 7 kilometers on UScellular’s commercial network in Wisconsin, claimed to be the farthest 5G mmWave fixed wireless connection in the US. Ericsson said the connection sustained average downlink speeds of  roughly 1 Gb/s, average uplink speeds of about 55 Mb/s and instantaneous peak downlink speeds above 2 Gb/s. US operators that own mmWave spectrum are keen to use it for 5G because the short wavelengths can transmit large amounts of data very quickly. Transmission range is seen as the biggest problem with mmWave, so technologies that can extend this range are of interest to operators.

iTWire - UScellular, Qualcomm, Ericsson, and Inseego address digital divide with multi-gigabit extended-range 5G milestone over mmWave

UScellular, Qualcomm, Ericsson, and Inseego ‘address digital divide’ with multi-gigabit extended-range 5G milestone over mmWave Monday, 10 May 2021 20:01 UScellular, Qualcomm, Ericsson, and Inseego ‘address digital divide’ with multi-gigabit extended-range 5G milestone over mmWave Shares Successful milestone achieved in the US addresses “the last mile” connectivity challenge and enhances consumer broadband experiences as data demand grows. Qualcomm, Qualcomm, Ericsson, and Inseego have announced the companies have successfully achieved a 5G extended-range milestone over millimetre Wave (mmWave) on a commercial network. This milestone was accomplished at a distance of 7 km, the farthest 5G mmWave Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) connection in the US, with sustained average downlink speeds of ~1 Gbps, sustained average uplink speeds of ~55 Mbps and instantaneous peak downlink speeds recorded at greater than 2 Gbps.
