It has been two years since I have been able to sit down in my living room at home and watch an Arena Football League game on TV. So I was really looking forward to the kickoff of the 2010 AFL season on the NFL Network Friday night (April 2). I was not disappointed.

When AFL Hall of Famer and Arizona Rattlers legend Sherdrick Bonner left the desert in 2007, his legacy was secure. The resume listed 14 seasons with two ArenaBowl titles, an ArenaBowl VIII MVP award, a spot among the Top 10 greatest AFL players ever and every meaningful Rattlers passing record.

During the New Orleans VooDoos four overall AFL seasons, the team finished no worse than fifth in attendance and even led the league in 2007. The last two ArenaBowls were held in the Crescent City and were announced sellouts. So why in the world is New Orleans quitting Arena Football for the second time since 2005?

It's tough to be too critical when you have won the last three ArenaBowl championships, but most will agree the weakest part of the Arizona Rattlers' game in their run to a dynasty has been special teams -- the kicking game and kickoff/missed field goal coverage.

A fifth of the AFL season is complete and there are two undefeated teams (Arizona and Cleveland), two winless squads (Kansas City and New Orleans). Milwaukee, Spokane and Tulsa all got their first wins of the season, while Chicago and Orlando lost for the first time. Six of the nine games were blowouts of at least 17 points and two games were decided in the final eight seconds.

The Washington Valor (0-7) lost 51-46 on Thursday night inside of Capital One Arena against the Philadelphia Soul (4-3) in front of 4,711 fans. This is the second longest losing streak in Washington's franchise history.
