The 2023 Legislature delivered a package of bills that reform Montana’s land-use codes with an eye toward fixing the state’s housing crisis. The legislation was a top priority for Gov. Greg Gianforte and his mandate to cut so-called red tape that stymies new development.

Gov. Greg Gianforte announced Thursday the membership of a task force charged with formulating recommendations for ways the state could reduce the burden property taxes put on Montana residents.

From its inception in 1899, the Flathead Lake Biological Station was known as the “Sentinel,” or guardian, of the lake. For researchers working in the facility today, that sentiment still holds true.

The bipartisan group is charged with developing recommendations for 2025 Legislature.
