The Dutch agency in charge of asylum procedures, COA, failed to adhere to a court order limiting the number of asylum seekers at the Ter Apel temporary processing facility. As a result, COA will have to pay a penalty of 15,000 euros for the first time to the municipality of Westerwolde, which includes Ter Apel.

The emergency services issued NL Alerts for two major fires in Almere and Haarlem. Firefighters are still trying to get the blaze in a thrift store and clothing storage unit on an industrial terrain in Almere under control. The fire in an appliance store in Haarlem has been extinguished. Locals in both municipalities are urged to stay out of the smoke. As far as is known, no one got hurt.
