Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Rich Strike, campaigned by Richard Dawson of RED TR-Racing, is set to make his next start in the $6-million Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) Nov. 5 at Keeneland, trainer Eric Reed announced Sunday.

Undefeated Flightline, the world’s top-rated racehorse, arrived at Keeneland from California Sunday to prepare for the $6-million Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) Nov. 5 at the Lexington track.

Unbeaten and untested Flightline was nothing short of brilliant Saturday morning at Santa Anita as the presumptive $6-million Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) favorite got an official six-furlong time of 1:11.80 in his final local workout prior to shipping to Lexington Sunday morning and an appointment with destiny in the Classic Nov. 5 at Keeneland.

Airdrie Stud has announced that Wertheimer and Frere’s homebred Happy Saver will retire to the Midway, Ky. nursery following this year’s Breeders’ Cup World Championships. 

“I thought, ‘Wow, what a different horse this is,’” he recalled. “I had never sat on a horse and felt the way he felt.”

RED TR-Racing’s Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Rich Strike worked a half-mile on his own in :47.60 at 5:35 a.m. (ET) Saturday over a fast track at Keeneland.

A total of 11 stallions will stand at Darley’s Jonabell Farm in 2023, including two new additions: G1 winners Speaker’s Corner and Mystic Guide.

The undefeated Flightline has finished No. 1 in the final Longines Breeders’ Cup Classic Rankings, earning a unanimous vote in the international poll.
