shield. there also appear to be at least two rifles there. that picture was taken at 11:52 a.m. that s just 19 minutes after the gunman first entered the school. and 58 minutes before officers took him down. now, there s another picture obtained by the texas tribune this time that shows multiple officers armed with rifles there. ballistic shields, multiple shields. and axe-like tools. most of which the tribune reports were never deployed. now, we must note, we do not know at what point in the standoff this image was taken. but it does seem by these images that police were well equipped to storm the gunman. and this is raising new questions and understandably new anger about the police response by uvalde officers. we re also learning that some officers on the scene questioned the plan, as confusion delayed the breaching of the classrooms with kids still inside. rosa flores is live in san antonio this morning. rosa, with the new images that really just delve further in to w
hello and welcome to our viewers in the united states and around the world. live from cnn world headquarters in atlanta, i m john vause, and this is cnn newsroom. texas officials are facing a growing number of questions as well as increasing criticism of law enforcement s response to the mass shooting at robb elementary. for two days now, the official count has been inconsistent, contradictory, and outright confusing at times with some major changes to some important details. did police exchange gunfire with the shooter as he entered the school? on tuesday and wednesday, the answer was yes. by thursday, no. the shooter was never confronted by a school resource officer or anyone for that matter. it just never happened. authorities say it took up to an hour before the gunman was killed, and during that time, police were calling for backup and evacuating students and teachers from other parts of the school, negotiating with the suspect himself, pinning him down in a classroo

all around the world, it is thursday, may 26th. i m john berman live in uvalde, texas. brianna keilar is in washington. behind me is the robb elementary school where 19 children and two teachers were killed. i want to show you what happened here overnight. behind me is this new memorial, you can see flowers, you can see balloons and now just over the last few hours you can see crosses, one for each of the victims killed here. each life taken. 19 of them, of course. just children in the fourth grade, two of them teachers who were in there trying to save their lives. there was a vigil last night where the community here came together, it s a small town just over 15,000 people, and so many people we talked to have connections to the victims. tesberi mata was hoping to go to bravo. nevaeh bravo also 10. these are the stories that you will hear this morning. a fourth grade teacher who sacrificed herself protecting the children, a grieving father who found out his daughter died try
