Rockaway Beach Park is closed for swimming and surfing after a woman was reportedly bitten by a shark near the Queens, New York beach. The woman was hospitalized with a serious leg injury and is in stable condition.

Two shark attacks, a little more than one hour apart, struck North Carolina beaches catching local officials off balance before a warning was issued.
