Florida Tech hosted a vigil Tuesday night as a place for the community to come together and begin healing in the wake of a shooting. Many people held candles as they gathered on the Melbourne campus.

On Wednesday, Melbourne Police released a timeline of events that led up to the deadly shooting of an 18-year-old Florida Institute of Technology student.

Melbourne Police said Alhaji Sow, a Florida Institute of Technology student, was killed during the encounter on the night of Dec. 3. He is from Riverdale, Georgia.
