SEMINOLE â In simple terms, Tampa Bay Newspapers publisher Dan Autrey explained the reason for his success while at the helm of community papers for many years. Hire good people. And let them do the job you hire them for, said Autrey, who is retiring at the end of July. That s all it takes.
Recruited in 2002 to restructure and rebuild Tampa Bay Newspapers, Autrey began to look at opportunities to create more publications.
After some newspaper redesign efforts, personnel moves and other improvements, Autrey oversaw expansion efforts, leading to the start of more newspapers, such as the Dunedin and Palm Harbor Beacons, along with new special sections.

Cathedral High alumni pledges $1.78 million to the boys school
Tim Ackert, a 1962 graduate of Cathedral High School, and his wife, Norma, have pledged $1.78 million to Cathedral High School.
It is the second largest single gift made to the Catholic Foundation for the Diocese of El Paso, stated a news release from the Catholic Foundation.
“I made my bequest to Cathedral High School because I very much believe in the mission of providing resources to those who have not had the opportunities that I had growing up. When we were in El Paso for my 50th high school reunion and saw the success rate of the Cathedral graduates, I was floored and decided to do what I could to help future students with needs become successful,” Tim Ackert said in the release.
