And so i did those for a while. But now, you know, as ive gotten a few gray hairs, ive started to do what i hope are more serious books that are reflective. Since 2008, ive been running western journal where we produce about 35 written articles a day about the news. And what i try to do is every three or four years is step back from that day to day process of writing the news and try and give some context to what is going on in the country. And politically. Joining us now on is author richard. Here is his book. Its called go big the Marketing Secrets of richard, a viguerie. Mr. Viguerie, what do you do for a living living . My mother went to her grave a few years ago, not really understanding what did. I was fortunate. Back in. 1960s, early sixties to pioneer political direct mail. People have been raising money for a long time and theyve been raising it money through the mails for charities, churches, etc. Nobody could combine the two politics and the mails. And i did that in the early 60. For about 20 years, i had no competitors. And i went out there and and helped the conservative movement. And i can a case that without direct mail would be no conservative movement worthy of the name. When i did my pioneering work in the sixties, the left wasnt doing. Now theyre doing a better job than the are. Have you always been a conservative when you even when you were growing in texas . I grew up right in pasadena, texas, outside of houston. And
What you see in every country is more of this type of social intervention then we do here. If anything we move closer to some of that. At least when it comes, as robert was saying, to some of the programs that work. I that work. I think this is a positive thing. The child tax cut a, the earned income tax credit. In part because we recognize that it is bringing a political view and in part because it is bring confidence to americans to consider work and people who are [inaudible] these programs have to work to be nonporous seems fair that others should have to work as well. That is a general mindset. So, that is why at the end of the day i say if we are going to solve some of these problems, and i agree with charles that there are a lot of guys ought to be working who are not. We are to guarantee them a job. In fact. In fact, during the recession, during the recovery act we had a program, subsidized job program, we subsidize wages to the tune of 80 or 90 of the ef program, we subsidize
