A recent study in Materials compares rinsed ilmenite mud waste (R-MUD) with fly ash (FA) as additives in Portland cement composites, focusing on microstructural and pozzolanic properties. The results reveal that R-MUD, despite lower silicon dioxide content, exhibits higher pozzolanic activity, potentially offering a sustainable alternative to FA in cement production.

The Pollution Control Board, Assam, directs NF Railway to suspend transport and unloading of fly ash operations at Lanka railway station in Nagaon district due to air pollution. A fine of Rs 7,80,000 has been imposed for violation of pollution norms. NFR instructed to transport fly ash in sealed bags and set up mechanised unloading arrangements.

Gautam Adani-led Adani group, which owns Ambuja Cements and ACC Ltd, is targeting to capture around one-fifth of the Indian cement market by FY28. Adani Cement business will implement its accelerated capex program through internal accruals and the business will continue to "remain debt free," said an investor presentation shared by Ambuja Cements.

The residents living in colonies around Buddha Dariya on Tajpur Road claimed to be suffering from the increasing levels of air pollution due to the fly ash released from nearby factories. Fly ash is a powdery component released on combustion of coal, especially from thermal power plants. The residents raised the issue during a cleanliness drive being carried out by environmentalist Balbir Singh Seechewal around the drain.
