Microsoft wants to make more changes to Windows 11 and many of its components. Evidence of this is already in the system and the changes have occurred.

Microsoft recently announced that it was removing several old File Explorer folder options in Windows 11 Insider build on the Dev channel. However, with the latest build, it has backtracked.

The Dev builds of Windows 11 are often where signs of Microsofts experimentation with the operating system can be seen. It is something of a playground for the company to try out new ideas, tinker with settings and determine how changes are received by beta testers.

As part of a new preview build for Windows 11, Microsoft is looking to streamline File Explorer by cutting some of the least used Folder Options.

Microsoft, like a lot of tech companies, believes that we’re finally edging closer to be able to say goodbye to passwords. The hope is that we will soon be able to use passkeys instead, which are more secure and harder to steal.

The latest Windows 11 Insider build improves the passwordless experience in several ways, but its change log also notes that Microsoft will no longer remove legacy features from File Explorer.

The new Windows 11 Insider Dev Channel preview build 23486 will allow users to access any app or website that supports passkeys, and use Windows Hello to create or sign into those sites and apps.

Microsoft is trimming the fat in the user interface, but you can bring it back in Registry Editor.
