UPDATE: 5:31 p.m. -- Crews from several fire agencies have fully contained a grass fire northeast of El Rancho Brewing Co. after fighting the flames for about two hours on a windy Labor Day afternoon.

The film “Odd Hours, No Pay, Cool Hat” became available on video on demand on July 27, and the film has a Colorado connection. The filmmakers hope to bring more awareness and volunteers to the fire service across the country, including to Jefferson County fire districts.

The Conifer community is invited to provide input into what the Conifer library should be like and offer at two meetings in May.

The candidates for the Foothills Fire Protection District board of directors generally agreed on the department’s direction moving forward, though they bring different skill sets to the table and don’t see eye-to-eye on how to get there.

Candidate forums are planned for both the Elk Creek and Foothills fire departments in April, co-sponsored by the Canyon Courier, in advance of the May 2 election.
