Foreign Minister Eva-Maria Liimets: unresolved conflicts in the Eastern Neighbourhood require more concrete steps from the EU

Estonian Foreign Minister Eva-Maria Liimets attended on 26 and 27 May an informal meeting of foreign affairs ministers of the European Union (Gymnich) in Lisbon. The ministers discussed, among other things, options for resolving ongoing conflicts in the EU’s Eastern Neighbourhood – Ukraine, Georgia, Nagorno-Karabakh and Moldova. EU sanctions in response to Belarus’ unacceptable forcing of a passenger plane to land in Minsk on 23 May were also discussed.
“Continued instability in the region is hampering the peaceful development and cooperation of the countries.
