Spanish Fork Police said they found the body of a 2-year-old toddler in a canal on Friday morning.

Letter to the editor: It was with great sadness that I read the Nevada Appeal report (Oct.6,) “Political Speech Leads to Pushing at Forum”. For many months I’ve tolerated mean, thoughtless tirades by a handful of people opposed to positive change in our capital city community.

After nearly 3 years, the prosecution of Wilber Martinez-Guzman is finally coming to a close. During a status hearing Thursday morning in Washoe County District Court, Guzman pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including four First Degree Murder with Use of a Deadly Weapon charges. An outbuilding fire in Spanish Fork Tuesday has caused about $55,000 in damages, according to fire crews.

The U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit released a list of beaches, campgrounds, resorts and public areas that are closed as of Monday because of dangerous fire conditions.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The federal government is offering financial help to Central California residents who lost homes and businesses in last year's Fork Fire.
