Former Bear and current professional golfing phenom Collin Morikawa made history Sunday morning, holding off Jordan Spieth with a -4 in the final round to secure a win at the 149th British Open.
The 24-year-old’s PGA Tour career is off to a blistering start, and he is quickly rewriting the record books. With this most recent performance, Morikawa, who graduated from Cal in 2019, became just the fourth American to win the British Open before the age of 25. He is also the only golfer in history to win two major events in his debuts, with this win following his first-place finish at the 2020 PGA Championship.
