As many as 35 of 53 NCP MLAs were present at the party meeting convened by Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar in Mumbai on Wednesday, party sources said, as per news agency PTI.
In his current plea, Deshmukh submitted that he is an elected representative and has to attend to the grievances of the people in his constituency in Katol in Nagpur district as well as meet officials of various departments.
Anil Deshmukh has been in jail since November last year after he was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case. In April this year, he was arrested by the CBI in a corruption case.
