A London, Ont. man was arrested in Fort McMurray Wednesday and has been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting of a woman in Brampton, Ont. last year.
On Thursday, August 13, 2020, emergency services were called to a home in Brampton, Ont. where Sangita Sharma, 56, was found with a gunshot wound. She later died in the hospital.
On June 23, Malik Essue, 23, from London, Ont. was arrested by Wood Buffalo RCMP and charged with first-degree murder. Essue will be brought back to the Peel Region to face the charge.
Essue is the second suspect to be arrested. On June 4, Fiseha Girmay Habtegabir, 19, also from London, Ont. was charged with first-degree murder. He appeared in Ontario Court in Brampton, Ont. on June 5.
