We reduced the number of one-bedroom apartments, Jeffrey Zimmer told a meeting of the Fort Myers Community Redevelopment Advisory Board Wednesday evening. Some people want another bedroom for working at home.
The result is more multiple bedroom units, which will trim the number of units to 274 as some single-bedroom quarters were combined to increase two-bedroom apartments.
Some issues remain to be resolved before the builder can move forward with the project, including how much money the city CRA is willing to allow as an incentive for Zimmer Construction to make the project a reality.
The builder said the cost of construction is driven higher by the need to construct a parking garage as part of the 4.47-acre complex, which will be fronted on First Street and bounded by Royal Palm Boulevard and Fowler and Second streets.
