Political parties were bracing for the assembly election results on Thursday in the crucial state of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and politically volatile Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur, sending out feelers for possible post-poll tie-ups.

Assembly Elections 2022: Counting of votes in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur, which went to polls between February 10 and March 7, will begin at 8 am on Thursday (March 10).

More than 50,000 officials have been deployed for the counting of votes at nearly 1,200 halls in the five states and COVID-9 guidelines will be followed during the exercise that will begin at 8 AM amid tight security, according to officials.

Starting at 7 am, the voting is underway at 22 constituencies spread across six districts in the state. Polling will continue till 4 pm.

Manipur recorded 11.40 per cent voter turnout till 9 am on Saturday with polling across 22 constituencies underway for the second and final phase of the Manipur assembly elections, the Election Commission of India said.
