It’s a tourist attraction in the Tampa Bay Area, and changes could be on the way.

The Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority, or PSTA, will offer free parking and shuttle services this spring break for those going out on the town in Clearwater Beach.

The plan for an activity center there, which would remedy a longstanding conflict between the county and Madeira Beach, now heads back to the city.

But the long-planned project now hinges on the March 19 election, according to planning officials.

Officials say they have seen an increase in concerns that have been raised about the trail, including the use of e-bikes and scooters.

Approval from county commissioners is one of the final hurdles for a long-discussed plan seeking to rectify a conflict between Madeira Beach and county rules.

The project could hit another road block after the election as candidates differ on how to move forward.
