The edible bean crop in North Dakota, the No. 1 producer in the United States, was rated 8% excellent, 48% good, 41% fair and 3% poor the week ending Aug. 21, according to the U.S. Agriculture Department National Agricultural Statistics Service.

Karl Hoppe, North Dakota State University Extension livestock systems specialist at the Carrington Research Center and Sustainable Agriculture and Resource Education Center state coordinator, was recognized with the honor at a conference this summer in West Palm Beach, Florida.

About 15 youth, ages 13 to 18, attended the Aug. 9, 2022, Junior Beef Producer workshop at Carrington (North Dakota) Research Extension Center to learn about topics from beef nutrition to manure management to jobs available in the industry.

Mary M. Bullis Hoyt, age 94, peacefully passed away in the presence of family on February 9, 2022 at Bethany Retirement Living Center in Fargo, N.D. As per her wishes, memorial services will be conducted graveside by longtime family friend, Candyce Wick of the Woodworth and Pingree Lutheran and Medina U.C.C. Churches. The service and inurnment will be held at 11:00 A.M. on July 23, 2022 at Highland Home Cemetery in Jamestown, N.D. with a time of fellowship to follow.

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — The man killed in a motorcycle crash this week on the interstate west of Fargo was the police chief of Carrington, a city in Foster County, according to officials. The North Dakota Highway Patrol says Brandon Sola was also a master sergeant with the North Dakota Air National Guard in Fargo.

Brandon Sola was headed west on Interstate 94 when he lost control of the motorcycle, a 2007 Harley Davidson, and it started to wobble. He was thrown from the motorcycle and landed in the median, the North Dakota Highway Patrol said.
