Every year for Veterans Day, several local and national businesses go out of their way to say thank you to the men and women who have served, and are actively serving in our armed forces. Below, you’ll find a list of our local companies that have something special for our active and retired military members.

I hope that no one is thinking that the middle of the week has nothing to offer. You’ll find some melodic rock all the way from Los Angeles when The Battlefield hits the stage at Sassafras. If you live or work downtown, the Public Meeting regarding the upcoming Epic Rides event will of great interest to you.

I’m ready for spring. My allergies don’t seem to be as enthusiastic, but I love watching our valley awaken from its gray winter slumber. Muscle Powered’s guided hikes are a great way to explore our town and learn about the many trails hidden in the hills.

It might be a blustery Sunday, but the snow isn’t falling yet so enjoy what’s left of our Indian Summer. Whatever you couldn’t cram into Saturday is probably still around: the Aviation Round-up, Italian Festival, and the Outhouse races are still going strong.

If everything goes as planned, the sun will finally make an appearance. That’s good news for those running in the Carson High Safe and Sober 5K or in Ascent Runs’ Love Can Be Cold 5/10K at Prison Hill. Local restaurant and brewery, The Fox Brewpub, will hold a fundraiser for a local family whose daughter was recently diagnosed with cancer on Saturday, April 6 from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m.

Tis the season for visits with Santa, holiday twinkle lights, and craft fairs and festivals. In order to make your December planning a little easier, take a look at what is coming up in the Carson City, Carson Valley, Dayton, and Virginia City area. Go deck the halls, get some jingle bells, and wassail away.

Good morning Carson City! Today is Saturday, April 6. While its going to be a bit cloudy today, well have a high of 56 degrees. Sunday and Monday are almost hitting 70, though, with highs at 67 and 68!

I’m going to suggest that you keep this weekend’s plans flexible. There’s only a chance of rain, but the chance of it showing up at the wrong time is always high. The very early morning is best spent watching the hot air balloons against the Reno skyline, but you’ll probably want a sweater for the pre-dawn chill.
