Phoenix police have significantly reduced the amount of time the department takes to report its officers for “Brady” list consideration after internal investigations, according to new information and data provided to ABC15.
The Phoenix Police Department routinely delayed sending misconduct files to prosecutors for at least 100 “Brady” list officers for hundreds of days on average, according to an expert’s statistical analysis of past cases.
The City of Phoenix has lost a legal effort to obtain ABC15’s raw reporting. It was an attempt that the news station’s attorneys and outside experts call a retaliatory and troubling attack on the First Amendment.
