Eric Adams holds slim lead over Kathryn Garcia in NYC mayoral recount after ‘test’ ballot debacle Chris Sommerfeldt
Eric Adams’ lead in the city’s Democratic mayoral race is even slimmer than initially thought with runner-up Kathryn Garcia trailing him by less than 15,000 ballots, according to corrected results released by the Board of Elections on Wednesday after an embarrassing tabulation snafu plunged the primary into chaos. © Provided by New York Daily News Democratic New York City mayoral candidate Eric Adams

According to the updated unofficial returns, Brooklyn borough president Adams clinched the top spot with 51.1% of the vote after nine rounds of ranked-choice eliminations. Garcia, the city’s former sanitation commissioner, was the only other candidate left in the race after the ranked-choice rounds, capturing 48.9%, according to the BOE results.
Corrected figures released Tuesday show Adams is 14,755 votes ahead of his next-nearest rival, Kathryn Garcia
Meanwhile, Garcia sits just 347 votes ahead of left-wing competitor Maya Wiley
Around 125,000 absentee votes are yet to be counted, meaning all three are still in with a chance of winning the primary
Those ballots will be counted from July 6, with final primary results expected several weeks later
Adams, an ex-NYPD cop, is a centrist Democrat who opposes defunding the police, and wants to bring back controversial stop-and-frisk policies
The winner of the Democratic primary will face off against Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa for the mayoral election on November 2
