Guilford company gets FDA approval in effort to aid stroke victims

GUILFORD Time is of the essence in preventing brain injury following a stroke, and a Guilford-based company has received federal approval for a development that may be able to aid in that fight.
Officials with U.S. Food and Drug Administration have given approval to Hyperfine Research to begin including artificial intelligence software in the company’s portable magnetic resonance imaging units.
The six-year-old company got FDA approval in February 2020 to bring its Swoop portable MRI to market. Now, artificial intelligence software can be included with the device, according to Prantik Kundu, a senior scientist in research and development at Hyperfine.
