A sigh of relief echoed across the Franschhoek Valley on Monday evening when President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that alcohol sales may again take place.
The Franschhoek Valley is largely a wine and tourism destination and has suffered immensely under the stringent lockdown regulation, with in total three periods of prohibition in the past 12 months.
Reinher Behrens, CEO of Franschhoek Wine Valley and Tourism said that Monday evening’s announcement that liquor sales can restart is very good news for the valley. “We are very happy,” he said.
