When driver Brandon Campbell jumps back in the race bike for the start of the 2023 harness racing season in Western Canada this weekend, he will do so with a new record on his resume.

The Harness Racing B.C. (HRBC) Board of Directors met on Tuesday, Dec. 14 to discuss the financial hardships resulting from the cancellation of races in December.

Denis P. Linford, long time breeder, trainer and driver in Western Canada, passed away on Oct. 6, 2022 at the age of 86.

Fraser Downs wrapped up its 2022 racing season Monday evening with a nine-race card, and the closing night feature was taken by In High Cotton in upset fashion.

Driver Brandon Campbell punched out of a dynamite day at the office Sunday afternoon (Nov. 27) at Fraser Downs, nabbing five of the afternoon’s nine races.

Eliminations for the Western Canada Pacing Derby are set for this Saturday, Nov. 26 at Century Mile. Fourteen of the top three-year-old pacing colts and geldings in Western Canada will face off in a pair of $13,500 eliminations to determine the field for the $110,000 (est.) final, which will be contested on Saturday, Dec. 3.

Nine races made up the Sunday evening (Nov. 20) card at Fraser Downs and six horses were driven to victory by Brandon Campbell, including the gate-to-wire performance by Outlaw C My Shadow in the $10,000 Open Pace. The remaining three victorious horses on that card were piloted by Kelly Hoerdt.
