A huge freak wave has left five people badly hurt after crashing into a restaurant on the KZN south coast.

A KwaZulu-Natal seaside restaurant on the south coast turned into a scene of chaos and panic when a massive freak wave unexpectedly crashed into the establishment, causing injuries to seven patrons and damage.

Seven people were injured when a freak wave hit a restaurant at Marina Beach near Southbroom in KwaZulu-Natal on Sunday.
