Hannah Gilbert had three hits, including a home run, and drove in two runs, but the Valley Storm 14U softball team fell one run short in the title game of the Coaches Classic on Sunday.
The Storm fell to CT Diamond Club, 9-8, in the championship game played Sunday at Murphy Park.
Margarette Howland and Delaney Fifield each had two hits in the title game for the Storm, and Maggie Fay drove in a pair of runs.
The Valley Storm got into Sunday’s final thanks to a 19-4 win over the Vermont Storm in the quarterfinal round and a 7-5 win over the NEK Tri-Force in the semis.
Xaviay Reynolds and Wesley Darling each had four hits, while Declan Thompson and Fred Burnap both tallied three hits to lead Bobby C’s DJ Service to a 15-10 win over Fitzgerald Real Estate in the Greenfield Minor League Baseball Single A semifinals on.
