Seattle Mariners to hand out $65,000 in racial equity grants (AP Photo/Stephen Brashear) The charitable arm of the Seattle Mariners has announced $65,000 dollars in awards to three separate groups, in its bid to further the cause of racial equity. The team will be distributing $20,000 to Seattle-based You Grow Girl!, which provides “mental and behavioral health services to female-identifying youth and families from BIPOC communities.” Another $20,000 will be given to the King County Play Equity Coalition, addressing “lack of access and resources for all youth” through a collaboration with 100 participating organizations. The final $25,000 will go to the Minority Business Executive Program out of the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business, “which supports capacity building and access to capital for minority owned business.”
